Privacy Policy
ScamResponse.ca is committed to protecting the privacy of every individual who contacts us. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and how we protect it. Last updated: April 2026.
1. Who We Are
ScamResponse.ca is a Canada-wide fraud investigation service that produces structured evidence reports for individuals and businesses who have been defrauded online. We operate remotely across all Canadian provinces and territories.
For the purposes of this Privacy Policy, “we”, “us”, and “our” refers to ScamResponse.ca. “You” refers to any individual who visits our website, submits a case inquiry, or engages our services.
If you have any questions about this policy or how your information is handled, contact us at help@scamresponse.ca.
2. Information We Collect
We collect information only when you voluntarily provide it to us through our contact form or by email. This may include:
Personal identification information — your name, email address, and phone number as provided in the contact form.
Case information — details about the fraud you experienced, including the amount lost, type of scam, and any supporting information you choose to share in your message.
Evidence materials — screenshots, documents, transaction records, and other files you submit as part of your case inquiry or active investigation.
Website usage data — standard website analytics including pages visited, time on site, device type, and approximate geographic location. This data is collected in aggregate and is not linked to your personal identity.
We do not collect sensitive personal information such as government identification numbers, financial account credentials, or health information unless explicitly provided by you as part of your case evidence.
3. How We Use Your Information
Information you provide is used solely for the following purposes:
To respond to your inquiry — we use your contact details to respond to your free assessment submission within 24 hours.
To conduct your investigation — if you engage our services, the case information and evidence you provide is used exclusively to produce your investigation report.
To improve our service — aggregate, anonymised data may be used to understand how our website is used and improve the experience for future visitors. No personally identifiable information is used for this purpose.
We do not use your information for marketing purposes, and we do not send unsolicited communications of any kind.
4. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell, rent, trade, or otherwise transfer your personal information or case details to third parties. Your information is never shared without your explicit consent, with the following limited exceptions:
Service providers — we may use trusted third-party tools to operate our website and manage communications, such as email and form submission platforms. These providers are bound by confidentiality obligations and are not permitted to use your information for any other purpose.
Legal requirements — we may disclose information if required to do so by applicable Canadian law or in response to a valid legal process. We will notify you of any such requirement where permitted by law.
With your consent — if your investigation report is to be shared with a third party such as legal counsel or a financial institution, this will only occur at your explicit direction.
5. How We Protect Your Information
We take the security of your information seriously. Case submissions, evidence materials, and personal details are handled with appropriate technical and organisational safeguards to prevent unauthorised access, disclosure, or loss.
All communications with ScamResponse.ca are conducted over encrypted connections. Case files are stored securely and accessible only to the team members working on your investigation.
No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure. While we take all reasonable measures to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
6. How Long We Retain Your Information
We retain your personal information and case details only for as long as necessary to fulfil the purpose for which it was collected and to comply with applicable legal obligations.
Inquiry submissions that do not proceed to an active investigation are retained for a period of 90 days and then securely deleted. Active case files are retained for a period of two years from the date of report delivery, after which they are securely deleted unless you request earlier deletion.
You may request deletion of your information at any time by contacting us at help@scamresponse.ca.
